Hi, my name is Rob Sharp and I’m the Pastor of Harbour Church. I’m married to Cass and our kids are Nathaniel (14) and Caitlin (12).
Jesus has been impacting my life since I was 12 and I wouldn’t change a thing. God has given me lots of great ministry opportunities to serve Him. As an Electrician there were heaps of times I could share with the guys the hope I had in Jesus and answer their many questions. I worked for Youthworks in Camping ministry for four years getting to share the message of Jesus. Then I studied at Moore Theological College for four years, which was a great privilege. I’m an ordained Anglican Minister and served at Narellan Anglican Church before heading to the Coast.
Being the Pastor of Harbour Church is a great privilege and an exciting opportunity to be a part of what God is going to do in this Church. Our family has been part of Harbour Church since Christmas 2009 and it’s been fantastic. We have been welcomed into a church community and into people’s lives.
Harbour Church began in the July of 2007 and God has been growing it ever since. On 1 March, 2011 we became a recognised Anglican Church, after a unanimous vote from our church members to go independent. This was a significant stage in the life of our church. In 2017 we were joined by Tom and Madeline Batty, along with their three kids. This was both a huge step of faith for our church and an exciting next stage in the ministry of Harbour Church. Having two Pastors means we have increased our capacity as a church to carry out our vision to EXALT God as we EMPOWER and EQUIP disciples to ENGAGE the community. We will do this as we strive to live out Jesus' mission is to be DiscipleMakers, which is to be used by God so people can come to know him and grow in him through Jesus Christ. We'd love to have you join us in this God sized and shaped vision and mission.
Tom Batty Youth and Empower Pastor
G'day, I'm Tom, I'm married to Madeline and we are blessed with three crazy young kids. Zali is 6 and will happily tell you her stage name is Ziggy Zag (even if she doesn't know what a stage name is), Indiana is 4 and loves puzzles and can definitely find Wally before you can and Eli is 2 and at the moment he loves trucks and balls.
Though I didn't grow up in a Christian home, once my brother got invited to the local youth group in year 8 it didn't take long for the gospel to take hold of our family. I remember deciding to make Jesus my Lord and Saviour as a 12 year old shortly after my older brother began praying for my conversion. Since then I have been a follower of Jesus through Gymea High School, a Youthworks College diploma, 10 years at Youthworks Outdoors and most recently at Moore Theological College.
At Harbour Church I head up all the Empower ministries. That is, I seek to make sure all members of our church are empowered to grow as disciples. The main method we use to achieve this growth is through growth groups.
The other half of my role is looking after the youth. I have been set aside to work towards bringing the youth of Shellharbour into a saving relationship with Jesus and to keep them there through to adulthood. Our main method for this at the moment is our weekly youth gathering on a Friday night, online Christian input through our YouTube channel and both midweek and Sunday morning youth growth groups.
Come and say g'day sometime, I'm always up for a chat.
